A Bit of History on SSI
In 1970 Scuba Schools International was founded, and since then has grown to become one of the largest certifying agencies in the world. SSI has organized many regional centers around the world. SSI Dealers are retail dive stores and resorts who offer training, equipment sales and service, local diving and travel. SSI authorized dealers are independently owned and operated dive businesses. SSI Provides all levels of training, starting with your first snorkeling experience, all the way to becoming an Instructor Certifier.

History of DAN

Divers Alert Network is a 501 © (3) non-profit dive safety organization associated with Duke University Medical Center. DAN is the largest membership association of divers in the
world. In 1980 DAN was founded to provide an emergency hotline to help injured divers. DAN relies on membership, dive industry sponsors, product sales, and fund-raising to provide service to the dive community. DAN is well known for it's 24-Hour Diving Emergency Hotline. They offer three different levels of insurance for divers - the Master, Plus, and Standard Plan. This insurance offers protection for divers and travelers.

International Association of Nitrox and Technical Divers (IANTD)
IANTD - Founded in 1985, is the first training agency to certify divers in the use of Nitrox. In 1991 IANDT extended its range of certification to Deep Air and all other breathing gases other than air. Courses offered are Deep Air ($225) and Advance Nitrox ($175).
