Dive Control Specialist Course

Divemaster

Divemaster training develops your leadership abilities by teaching you to supervise dive activities and assist instructors with student divers. Divemasters:

  • Work with local dive centers, on live-aboard dive boats, yachts and at exotic resort locations.
  • Assist Instructors with scuba classes.
  • Lead certified divers on guided dives.
  • Conduct local diving orientations.
  • May be able to teach certain refresher, discovery, non certification and emergency response courses.

Dive Control Specialist training is an important prerequisite for Assistant Instructor and Instructor training.

Who?

Who

Who Can Enroll? This course is open to divers who:

  • Are at least 18 years old.
  • Are certified to the Advanced Open Water level or equivalent.
  • Have logged at least 50 dives.
  • Complete a Diver Stress and Rescue course.
  • Have logged experience in Navigation, Night Diving, Deep Diving, and Search and Recovery.
  • Have secured a physician’s approval for diving within the past twelve months, based on the standard Medical History/Exam form.

What?

What is involved? This course consists of:

  • Self study.
  • Serve apprenticeship time and do practice teaching as listed in the course curriculum.
  • Complete a watermanship evaluation.
  • Written Final Exam.

Where and When?

When

Where and when do classes take place? Classes take place at the following places and times:

  • Classroom and pool sessions take place at The Dive Shop. The recommended course time should be about 80 hours.
  • Open-water training dives take place Saturday and Sunday.

Starting dates include:

  • Dates and times are flexible based on individuals schedule.

How Much?

How much does it cost? The course fee is $615.00 per person and includes:

  • Instruction.

Students are responsible for supplying all of the equipment items listed below, plus:

  • DiveCon Kit.
  • DiveCon Insurance.
  • Processing Fees.
  • Provide own dive equipment.

What Equipment?

What equipment will you need? Students are responsible for supplying all of the equipment items listed below:

  • Mask, snorkel, fins.
  • Adequate exposure protection.
  • Weight system, weights.
  • Buoyancy Control Device (BC).
  • Regulator/alternate air source.
  • Depth gauge/timer or computer.
  • Audible surface signal.
  • Surface signal (safety tube).
  • Dive tables and slate.
